Love is in the air for Mick Jagger, the legendary 82-year-old rockstar, and his fiancée, Melanie Hamrick, 38, as they made a rare public appearance at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala. This event marked their first red carpet outing since July's State Banquet at Windsor Castle, and the couple's affection for each other was undeniable.
Mick, known for his timeless style, donned a dapper look with a black velvet blazer, a floral shirt, and a touch of bling with his chunky gold bracelets. Melanie, a former dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, shone in a stunning red satin gown, showcasing her graceful figure. Her elegant bun and simple makeup completed the look, making her the epitome of sophistication.
But here's where it gets interesting: Melanie, a talented dancer, retired from her career in 2019 to focus on fiction writing and spend more quality time with her son, Deveraux, whom she shares with Mick. The couple's paths crossed backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in 2014, and the rest, as they say, is history. They welcomed their son in 2016, and Mick, a father of eight, found love and happiness with Melanie despite their 44-year age gap.
In an interview with Paris Match, Melanie revealed that they got engaged a few years ago, but there's no rush for a wedding. She shared, "Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so content with our life as it is, and I don't want to change a thing."
And this is the part most people miss: Melanie and Mick are not just romantic partners; they're professional collaborators too. They worked together on the 2019 ballet Porte Rouge, where Melanie choreographed a ballet set to the iconic tunes of the Rolling Stones.
"It was Melanie's vision," Mick explained to Town & Country. "She chose the songs, and I helped ensure they flowed seamlessly together."
Despite the age difference, Melanie has learned to ignore the naysayers. In an interview with The Times of London, she said, "Everyone has an opinion, but I've learned to tune them out. I'm happy, and that's all that matters."
