Does Mikimoto offer appraisals? / How do I get a Certificate of Valuation for my pearl jewelry?

Mikimoto does not offer appraisals or authenticity services at this time. However, as an alternative, Mikimoto may be able to provide you with a Certificate for Retail Replacement Valuation for a fee of $400.

The Certificate of Retail Replacement Valuation is provided solely for the purpose of advising your insurer of Mikimoto's retail price for merchandise matching or most nearly equivalent to your creation, in case the item is lost or stolen. It does not provide historical information for the item and it does not constitute an estimate of the value of any item when sold on estate jewelry or auction markets.

To request a Retail Replacement Valuation for a Mikimoto creation, you can bring your Mikimoto jewelry to our boutique for inspection, including any additional documentation you have of proof of purchase. They will advise if we are able to accept the piece to send to our workshop for further evaluation.

If you are unable to visit a boutique in-person, please contact us for further instructions on how to submit your Mikimoto creation for evaluation by selecting the "CONTACT US" button below.

What is the Mikimoto trademark? How do I know that my pearl jewelry is Mikimoto?

You can always identify Mikimoto jewelry by our trademark, which is either the outline of an oyster or the Mikimoto name engraved on every piece. This engraved mark can be found in the following locations:

  • Necklaces and bracelets: back of clasp. They are also fitted with a signature M charm. As the clasp is the only place in a strand or bracelet where the Mikimoto trademark is engraved, it is not possible to appraise a strand or a bracelet as genuine Mikimoto without it.
  • Earrings: on post, earring nuts or back of earrings
  • Rings: inside the shank
  • Pendants: on the back of the bail
  • Brooches: on the underside of the brooch
